INGMAR KURTH

„In the making“
Most things – no matter how skillfully, artistically, and precisely they are crafted – often only interest us at the moment they are presented to us as a chair, cup, tool, or something similar. And yet – although their manufacturing process is long complete, the transience of material states long since vanished – some of these artifacts are surrounded by a poetry of becoming throughout their use. Photographer Ingmar Kurth, who lives in Frankfurt am Main, explores this poetry and pays appropriate tribute to it with his images. By capturing those moments of making that give things their specific rhythms, forms, grids, and textures, he is able to awaken a curiosity in us that extends far beyond the objects' present.

After all, there is something about finding silence in cities and in objects, in people even: It preserves their dignity. Such images desist from yelling at you: “Look at me”: They simply are,; they blend phenomenology and photography.
